1927-1932 elementary school

1933-1941 school during this time he is interested in an early stage of the works of Edvard Munch, William Turner, and Auguste Rodin.

1941 he enlisted in the Air Force, where he was trained as a radio operator, through the later animal and documentary filmmaker Heinz Sielmann.

1943 - 1944 stationed on the eastern Adriatic numerous sketches and drawings from the war days were created here.

1944 - 16th March crash of the Ju 87 pilot died, Joseph Beuys, was seriously wounded on 17 March 1944 a German search party found. The shrapnel that he had suffered because of the air campaign could never be completely removed. The wounds were partly with home remedies, such as treated with animal fat and felt by warming. This was probably the preference of Joseph Beuys later deal, to be with these agents in the art.

1947 - 1948 winter semester exchange with Professor Ewald Matare

1947 - 1949 Joseph Beuys worked with Heinz Sielmann of zoological films.

1951 master student of Professor Ewald Matare.

1953 First solo exhibitions including Franz Joseph van der Grinten in Kranenburg and the Von der Heydt Museum, Wuppertal

1966-1972 Professor at the Düsseldorf Kunstakademie

1969, A crucial breakthrough came Joseph Beuys in the art market through his dealer René Block at the Cologne art fair. Group exhibitions:

Documenta 3 in 1966, 1968 Documenta 4 in this body of work Beuys illustrated also physical phenomena, such as electricity.
